BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CONCERT MAY 18, ROAD PLAN PRESENTED

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CONCERT MAY 18, ROAD PLAN PRESENTED, 4 NEW PARKINGS, 579 STEWARDS, 32 SHUTTLE BUSES. 11 THOUSAND NEW PARKING SPACES. ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW (UNTIL THE END) ESTABLISHED ‘RED ZONE’. COMFORT ZONE GATES OPEN FROM 8 AM. USEFUL TIPS FOR CITIZENS AND TOURISTS

Approximately 50 thousand people expected, 15 percent from abroad, 579 stewards available to the public, 180 local police officers engaged in several shifts (to which are added the police and members of the entire operating committee). 11,000 new parking spaces planned, out of 5 new parking areas identified (and bookable online), one of which is reserved for people with disabilities, with Unitalsi volunteers on duty. 32 active shuttles in the city. These are some of the numbers of personnel and hospitality expected for the Bruce Springsteen concert with the E Street Band, on May 18 at the Parco Urbano in Ferrara. This is the first Italian date of the famous rocker, who returns to Italy after seven years.

The traffic plan was illustrated today at the town hall and provides – from midnight on the 18th until the end of the flow of people at the end of the concert (approximately at dawn on May 19th) – the establishment of a red zone (where, i.e., it will not be possible to access by car) in all the areas adjacent to the concert area, i.e. via Canapa, via Fratelli Rosselli, the last stretch of the chain door, via Bacchelli and via Francia, from the end of the houses, on the city side, to after the Cus golf club area. On that day, the possible distance learning for students of the Carducci schools is being evaluated. The entire perimeter that embraces the red zone will be constantly monitored by 20 security cameras.

Via Porta Catena, in the stretch between viale Po and via Bianchi, will instead be the orange zone, i.e. pedestrian and vehicular traffic by residents will be allowed, while the yellow zone (intended for the transit by car of residents and work activity operators) will include the area inside the walls north of the via Arianuova/via Guarini axis and the area outside the fortifications between viale Po (excluded), the railway line and via Canapa (red zone) and porta Catena (orange zone). The new car parks envisaged (in addition to those in the city, managed by Ferrara Tua) are: in the Diamante centre, in the Barco area, at the A13 exit tollbooth, in via Giovan Battista Crema, both north of the city, as well as a south parking in via Aeroporto. The parking area dedicated to people with disabilities will instead be in via Gramicia, served by 45 Unitalsi volunteers and 11 dedicated vehicles.

On the other hand, tourist buses will stop in via Padova, campers at the fair (which can only be parked here on the days of the concert), motorbikes in via del Lavoro. The stalls can be reserved on the Park for fun platform (www.parkforfun.com), with a QR code which – via maps – will lead the drivers to the booked destinations – and all areas will have chemical toilets. The car parks will have a shuttle service (except for the Centro Diamante) – 32 in total – from the south to the train station and from the north to via Maragno.

“It will be an event of extraordinary importance and I thank the hundreds of professionals, operators, all the staff involved and the volunteers. We have tried to limit the inconvenience as much as possible and we are sure of everyone’s collaboration, which I thank in advance,” said Mayor Alan Fabbri. Commander Claudio Rimondi first of all made two recommendations: try as far as possible not to use four-wheeled vehicles on the day of the concert and avoid crossing the centre, using the roads outside the city. Luca Cimarelli, president of Ferrara Tua instead suggests to tourists who intend to visit the city on two wheels, to stop at the parking lot in via Aeroporto, to connect directly to the cycle roads.

The day will open at 8 with the opening of the Comfort area, located in via Bacchelli to the left of the concert area. Here there will be promotional stands of the city of Ferrara and its events. Those arriving from the station (Trenitalia and Barley Arts make special trains available) will find the Springsteen Village at the foot of the skyscraper to welcome them, with info, services and refreshments. The concert area, on the other hand, will open to the public from 13.30-14 in view of the start of the shows, with the opening groups Fantastic Negrito and Sam Fender on stage from 16.30, followed by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The press conference was also attended by the deputy mayor Nicola Lodi and the councilor Marco Gulinelli, with the event project manager Fernando Ferioli.
